Winter Break Housing Request

Thank you for your interest in winter break housing. Please fill out the information below so we can begin preparing for your stay. 

Residence Halls will be closed for winter break beginning Thursday, December 20th at noon, and will re-open on Sunday, January 6th at noon for the Winter 2019 semester. Any UM-Flint student with an active housing assignment can apply to remain on campus during winter break. All students staying on campus for the break will be required to relocate to a temporary assignment in First Street Hall.

Winter Break Agreement Information
Winter break is not covered by the academic year housing contract. First Street and Riverfront Residence Halls close at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 20, 2018 and officially re-open on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 12:00 noon. Current housing students who wish to stay on campus for any portion of the winter break will be charged a flat fee. This agreement extends the terms of the Housing Contract from 12:00 p.m. on December 20, 2018 to 12:00 p.m. on January 6, 2019. 


A non-refundable $250 charge will be billed to your student account at the start of winter break.

Approval Required

The Office of Housing & Residential Life will review submitted requests for approval. Feedback regarding the request will be sent to students via their UM-Flint email address. The deadline to submit a winter break housing request is December 14, 2018. Students approved for winter break housing will be provided with reservation confirmations by 5:00 p.m. on December 17, 2018.
Condition of Request
By submitting this request you agree to pay for your Winter Break assignment and a fee of $250 will be applied to your student account. Any student without the Office of Housing and Residential Life's approval who attempts to stay in the student housing during the break will be assessed the full winter break housing cost ($250) and referred to the student conduct process and/or the Department of Public Safety for trespassing. Students who provide access to housing for non-registered students will be charged an additional fee if found responsible for violating the CLS or Code of Conduct. 
Resident Guide to Community Living

Residents staying over winter break will adhere to all rules and regulations as stated in the University Code of Conduct and the Resident Guide to Community Living Standards (CLS) which can be found on the website here: 

Limited Services
Dining Services are closed during Winter Break, as are all UPAV vendors; there will be no food service on campus for the duration of the break. The Office of Housing and Residential Life will be closed December 22, 2018 - January 2, 2019. Residence Hall Front Desks will operate on a limited schedule, mail services will not be available, and overnight guests are not permitted in housing during the break. HRL professional staff and Resident Advisors will provide on call coverage for students in residence, and the Department of Public Safety is available 24 hours a day.
